Residents can sign up to have a FibroScan completed to help assess for potential Non-Alcoholic Steatohepatitisis. CPR & AED CLASS Learn life-saving techniques with Polk County Fire Rescue on September 18 at 11 am in the Clubhouse Ballroom. This class provides hands-only chest compression CPR and AED training designed to save the lives of people in sudden cardiac arrest. Sign up online or at the Clubhouse Activities Office. ASL CLASSES Instructor: Shelley Knee We are all losing our hearing, some faster than others. Are you turning the TV louder? Are you having trouble hearing in a crowded room, restaurant or doctor’s office? It’s time to learn American Sign Language (ASL). We have had several successful classes in the last three years and we are offering a Beginning Class this September. To learn ASL requires dedication and willingness to spend time and some money for apps on your phone or computer. I know many of us have full lives and if you miss classes I am willing to work with you one on one. Classes are free, but apps or any tools needed will be your responsibility. Classes are Tuesday afternoons from 1 to 2 pm in the Clubhouse Craft Room, September 24 – May 13, 2025. The third Tuesday of the month will be in the Game Room from 1 to 2 pm. Shelley’s Story: “I lost hearing in my right ear 36 years ago and as I aged my left ear started to fail until I was profoundly deaf. ASL saved the day for me because I opted to get a cochlear implant, and after surgery, I was deaf in both ears and would not hear again for eight weeks waiting to heal before the Cochlear Implant was Activated. A miracle happened for me and I understood immediately after the activation. ASL saved the day, however, I am still deaf when I remove
