Parker Junior High parker press Fantasy Football is Back! By: Anna Sikkema Fantasy football has started again! Everyone is anxiously turning on their TVs, watching multiple games, needing Patrick Mahomes to throw the winning touchdown, Washington Commanders to get a sack, and Christian McCaffrey to run all the way! But what exactly is fantasy football? Fantasy football is a new way to experience football which changes the way you watch a game. It is a fun opportunity to socialize with friends and family. Fantasy football teams are made by a draft. Different people draft different players to be on their team. Each team needs a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, defense, and so on and so forth. These players will earn your fantasy team points based on how well they play in their game. “Get ready for the Superbowl!” October 31 2023 Issue № 1 Now, on to the player stats. Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings, WR) is the projected best player in fantasy football at the moment, with Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs) as the leading quarterback. For our Bears fans, Justin Fields has six interceptions, 1,201 yards, 61.7% completions, and, sadly, 24 sacks and four fumbles. However, there is still a chance for the Bears this year; Illinois Bet says that there is a 6.3% chance of them making it to the playoffs. The Bears, after a victory over the Washington Commanders, have a 1-4 record. Also, a little bit of a shocker, as Aaron Rodgers (QB) is now with the New York Jets after 15 years with Green Bay Packers, suffered a season-ending injury(Achilles) in the first game of the season against the Buffalo Bills. If you have him on your team, you may want to trade him out! Regarding the Detroit Lions, are they in for a great season after their victory over Kansas City in week one? The Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers were both undefeated teams until week 6, when they both suffered a loss. The Eagles lost to the Jets, and the 49ers lost to the Browns. Keep those fantasy teams updated, and get ready for the Super Bowl!
