Parker Junior High parker press Fantasy Football is Back! By: Anna Sikkema Fantasy football has started again! Everyone is anxiously turning on their TVs, watching multiple games, needing Patrick Mahomes to throw the winning touchdown, Washington Commanders to get a sack, and Christian McCaffrey to run all the way! But what exactly is fantasy football? Fantasy football is a new way to experience football which changes the way you watch a game. It is a fun opportunity to socialize with friends and family. Fantasy football teams are made by a draft. Different people draft different players to be on their team. Each team needs a quarterback, running back, wide receiver, tight end, defense, and so on and so forth. These players will earn your fantasy team points based on how well they play in their game. “Get ready for the Superbowl!” October 31 2023 Issue № 1 Now, on to the player stats. Justin Jefferson (Minnesota Vikings, WR) is the projected best player in fantasy football at the moment, with Patrick Mahomes (Kansas City Chiefs) as the leading quarterback. For our Bears fans, Justin Fields has six interceptions, 1,201 yards, 61.7% completions, and, sadly, 24 sacks and four fumbles. However, there is still a chance for the Bears this year; Illinois Bet says that there is a 6.3% chance of them making it to the playoffs. The Bears, after a victory over the Washington Commanders, have a 1-4 record. Also, a little bit of a shocker, as Aaron Rodgers (QB) is now with the New York Jets after 15 years with Green Bay Packers, suffered a season-ending injury(Achilles) in the first game of the season against the Buffalo Bills. If you have him on your team, you may want to trade him out! Regarding the Detroit Lions, are they in for a great season after their victory over Kansas City in week one? The Philadelphia Eagles and the San Francisco 49ers were both undefeated teams until week 6, when they both suffered a loss. The Eagles lost to the Jets, and the 49ers lost to the Browns. Keep those fantasy teams updated, and get ready for the Super Bowl!

Parker Junior High parker press Michigan Monthly By: Anna Sikkema, Cooper Hoyt The number two seed in college football, arguably the first, is dominating every team they face by more than 20 points. This team is the Michigan Wolverines. With a 5-0 record and the best running back in the sport, Blake Corum is on the road toward greatness. The Wolverine’s quarterback, J.J McCarthy, and the rest of the team better be up for tough competition as the rest of the season is underway. It may seem all fun and games, but Michigan will have tough opponents throughout the season. With Michigan State in week six and Penn State in week eight, they have to be on their toes. Not to mention the biggest rivalry in college football, “The” Ohio State and Michigan University in week 10. October 31 2023 Issue № 1 We won last year and will dominate again. All Michigan fans were devastated when they lost big to TCU for a chance in the championship last year. We have learned from that and come back stronger than ever. It didn’t help that Blake Corum had gotten injured in the Illinois game and was not his best, as he was being watched severely. Donovan Edwards stepped up, but we all missed number 2. Michigan fans can be a little excessive because if you’re a Michigan fan, you either love Michigan or you hate Michigan; there is no in-between. They lost Aiden Hutchinson to the NFL draft two years ago, as this is his second season with the Detroit Lions (Coach: Dan Campbell 5-2). Tune in next time for the next Michigan Monthly! Parker Junior High parker press No Needles? No Problem! Joke Answer: They make everything up! Are you afraid of needles? If you are, a new solution may be coming soon! The Microarray Patch (MAP) is a new way to get immunizations without needles. Without the use of needles, they are much easier to transport and reduce potential needle waste. The MAP is a patch that has microscopic protrusions that administer the vaccine into the skin. “A great, pain-free alternative” Not only is using the MAP pain-free, but smaller doses of the vaccine delivered to the skin may create a stronger immunity than vaccines delivered by needle to muscle or tissue. Not only is this groundbreaking technology because it’s going to be a great, pain-free alternative to needles, but it is also easy to transport, administer, and it reduces waste. By: Leif Solorio
