ARTS & CULTURE Museums & Galleries Art Gallery of Northumberland The Art Gallery of Northumberland (AGN) presents intellectually stimulating exhibitions that spark conversations, inspire creativity, and enlighten the minds of all-ages. Featuring a year-round program of exhibitions, the AGN is committed to nurturing and promoting Canadian artists, and strive to exhibit works that advance critical enquiry and community connection to contemporary visual arts. The AGN’s Permanent Collection at present consists of over 1,500 works of local, regional, national and international significance, predominantly by Canadian artists. One of the main functions of the AGN, and one to which they are deeply committed, is to be available and accessible as an education resource for the public. Located at the Cobourg Community Centre. Saturday Studio Each Saturday is filled with art making in a fun and supportive environment encouraging young artists (ages 7-13) the freedom to explore their potential, build confidence and develop artmaking and critical thinking skills. This class inspires creativity and imagination while exploring new material and techniques. Located at the Cobourg Community Centre! School Programs AGN school programs bring students into the gallery for an hour of inspiration, conversation, and critical analysis. Students will have the opportunity to view current exhibitions at the Art Gallery of Northumberland and produce an artwork inspired by what they see. Youth Council The program focuses on community building through volunteerism. The Youth Council works to initiate programming by youth for youth, including exhibitions, public art projects, events, and more. Youth Council members meet once a week from September 2024 to June 2025 with additional time spent on special projects. Mini Art Gallery In partnership with community leaders, the AGN presents the newest creative addition to Northumberland County, the Mini Art Gallery. The Mini Art Gallery project encourages the creation and delivery of art throughout our community, making art accessible to all while encouraging community engagement! 18
