TASMANIA Confident Girls Foundation funding directly supported Netball Tasmania’s 2025 Marie Little Shield program, providing meaningful sporting opportunities for 11 athletes. The funding enabled a full inclusive preparation program, including multiple training sessions, team bonding, and match play across Tasmania in Campbell Town, Hobart, Launceston, and Deloraine from June through August. The program welcomed new athletes into the pathway while building on the foundations of the inaugural 2024 squad, supporting longterm growth and engagement. A program highlight was a visit from the Adelaide Thunderbirds, who ran a prematch training session, participated in a quarter and half-time debrief, and shared their experiences, emphasising fun, friendship, and learning over results. This had a meaningful impact, inspiring athletes and reinforcing the values of teamwork and enjoyment in sport. ACT In 2025, the Confident Girls Foundation supported Netball ACT to deliver inclusive and impactful programs through the Marie Little Shield and First Nations pathways, creating opportunities for athletes, coaches and the broader community. The Marie Little Shield program engaged 10 travelling athletes, supported by coaches, training partners and staff, with more than 50 players and officials involved throughout the season. The program focused on building skills, confidence and teamwork, while supporting personal growth, progression into mainstream competitions and the development of inclusive coaching practices. With Confident Girls Foundation support, Netball ACT selected 12 athletes and three coaches to compete at the Marie Little Shield National Tournament in Brisbane. A 12-week preparation program included training sessions, education workshops, match play, a simulation weekend and a dress presentation, with strong engagement from families and carers. The grant also supported 15 First Nations athletes to train and compete at the First Nations National Tournament in Victoria, fostering cultural pride, connection and a sense of belonging.
