WESTERN AUSTRALIA First Nations Programs In partnership with Netball Western Australia (Netball WA) Confident Girls Foundation supported seven Grassroots sites across Western Australia, providing culturally safe netball opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander girls. Programs included coaching support, uniforms, and resources, reaching 5,054 participants across Winter and Spring competitions. The funding helped reengage disconnected sites and introduce dozens of first-time players to netball. NAIDOC Netball Carnival, Busselton Funding enabled a major community event for more than 260 Indigenous participants. Cultural activities included a Welcome to Country, intergenerational yarning circles, and community-led awards. Eighty-eight officials and umpires, many trained through Netball WA pathways, supported the event, while talent identification and upskilling opportunities occurred throughout the day. Dandjoo Waabiny Come & Try Sessions Two sessions held in Busselton and Harvey engaged 69 children, providing fun on- and off-court activities and mentoring from Indigenous role models, including Donnell Wallam. First Nations Coaching Course, Narrogin Confident Girls Foundation funding enabled a face-to-face, culturally inclusive workshop for 13 regional coaches, strengthening local delivery, leadership, and coaching pathways. Impact & Community Outcomes Through these programs, Confident Girls Foundation funding has supported inclusion, cultural celebration, and community leadership. Families, Elders, and participants have provided overwhelmingly positive feedback, highlighting the empowerment, skill development, and connection these programs foster. 13 |
