P reparations for the 6th Annual Veteran’s Day Field of Flags to be placed on the lawn of Veterans Park at the corner of Winter St. and Central St. (not the Saugus Town Hall) to honor and remember all veterans on November 11, 2026 is underway. The Parson Roby Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution is sponsoring this event to honor all veterans, living or deceased, including those currently serving. Annual Veteran’s Day Field of Flags American flags may be sponsored through the Parson Roby Chapter DAR at a cost of $5 each. The flags will be placed at Veterans Park prior to Nov. 11th and will wave throughout the week until Nov. 12th with your veteran’s name on the flag. Flags may be sponsored to honor a family member, friend, neighbor, or employee who has served or is currently serving our country. The deadline to sponsor flags is October 30th. We will have a table at Founder’s Day so stop by for a chance to win Topsfield Fair tickets. 2021 was our first year sponsoring the Field of Flags and it has been a huge success. So many members of the community stopped by to thank us in remembering our veterans this way. There were over 140 flags sponsored with veteran’s names waving in the wind and we hope for many more veterans to be sponsored this year. REMEMBER OUR VETERANS! The Saugus Police Department, Saugus Fire Department, Saugus Health Department and representatives from numerous organizations and businesses will also be on hand for Founder’s Day. Visitors will be able to enjoy meals and tasty treats from various food booths that will be run by Saugus school groups and youth organizations. Proceeds from food purchases will help to support student activities throughout the school year. Some of the student-run booths will feature games, such as a dunk tank, fast pitch and pie-in-the-face, as well as many raffles and giveaways. The town’s Youth & Recreation Department coordinates many of the youth-led activities, food booths and community engagement elements of Founder’s Day, a beloved Saugus tradition which dates back to 1979. Youth & Recreation also manages vendor and organization table applications for participation in the event. Local entertainment will include performances by the Theatre Company of Saugus, the Memorylaners and Tae Kwon Do.
