A past recipient will read a biography of the new “Person of the Year,” highlighting that person’s past volunteer activities which led to the betterment of Saugus. Last year’s recipients were Nancy Prag and Eugene Decareau. The award became a key part of Saugus Founder’s Day in 1989. Since 1993, separate awards have been presented to a woman and a man who were selected for the honor, which is determined by a meeting of past recipients. Town Manager Scott C. Crabtree calls Founder’s Day “a cherished tradition that brings together current and former Saugus residents year after year.” “It’s a highlight of our community calendar, and I’m looking forward to a big turnout for this must-attend event that helps make Saugus such a special place to call home,” he said.
