Impemba honored for Investigative Excellence R evere Police Detective Lieutenant Robert Impemba received an award for Investigative Excellence at the 2019 Law Enforcement Public Service Awards Ceremony. Detective Lieutenant Impemba, who is assigned to the FBI North Shore Gang Task Force, was recognized for his involvement which led to the largest single federal prosecution of MS-13 in history. Following a coordinated takedown in January 2016, the U.S. Attorney’s Office charged dozens of MS-13 leaders, members and associates who were responsible for six murders, approximately 20 attempted murders and numerous robberies and acts of drug trafficking, firearm possession and other offenses. Forty-one defendants pleaded guilty prior to trial, and all nine defendants who went to trial were found guilty. McKinnon’s: Exceptional Savings & Service! The impact of “Operation Mean Streets” was significant, with a notable decrease in violent crime associated with MS13 in Boston, Chelsea, Revere and surrounding areas. Police Chief James Guido commended Detective Lieutenant Impemba and all of the other members of the task force for a job well done!
