"Time and again I am reminded of the extraordinary work happening in our schools and the impact educators have on our young people over the years," the Mayor said, addressing the newest group of teachers hired to join the faculty of the Malden Public Schools for the 2026-27 academic year. "Together we share a belief that every student can and will succeed," he said. The Malden Public Schools led a two-day orientation session for new teachers this week, held at Malden High School for some 60 newly hired educators who will join the ranks of the over 700 staff members in the district this year. The new teachers are spread across mostly every one of the seven school buildings in the district. School officially opens for Malden Public Schools next week on Wednesday, August 26 for Grades 1-12 and the following Wednesday, September 2 for pre-K (Early Learning Center) and kindergarten students. Third-year Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Timothy Sippel, Ed.L.D. also addressed and welcomed the newly hired teachers, pointing out the diversity of the Malden community and in turn its schools. Malden High once again was ranked as the "Most Diverse High School in Massachusetts" and two of the K-8 Schools (Salemwood and Ferryway) are also among the most diverse schools statewide. "We have students who come from all walks of life, whose families come from all over the world and some students who come very eager, very polished, ready to go and also students who had a different experience," Dr. Sippel said. "The best part about public school education is we get to deliver for all of them.
