Last year, ARTLine unveiled a mural of characters from the work of illustrator, author and Malden native Ed Emberley, at FitzGerald Park on Exchange Street. At a presentation to the City Council earlier this year, Malden Arts Vice President Candace Julyan explained that the first round of ARTLine projects were chosen to celebrate some of the city’s most famous artists. Painter, sculptor and Malden native Frank Stella, who is recognized as a major player in 20-century American art, has agreed to create a mural on the Eastern Avenue hockey rink. Work by Malden’s famous cartoonist Keith Knight with also be featured on the ARTLine. However, Julyan said that moving forward, ARTLine’s board of directors hopes to showcase the work of a more diverse group of local artists in the city public arts gallery. Our Revolution Malden endorses Linehan for Malden Ward 3 City Council O ur Revolution Malden has announced its endorsement of Amanda Linehan for the Ward 3 seat on Malden’s City Council. Linehan is a Beebe School parent, community activist, and progressive candidate for Malden City Council, running on a platform that promotes inclusion, transparency, and communication between local government and Malden residents. Linehan believes our community’s diversity is its strength, and wants to activate all residents to be more civically engaged. “I am honored to receive the endorsement of Our Revolution, an organization whose mission and values I admire and share.
