THE MALDEN ADVOCATE–Friday, July 16, 2021 Page 5 Sen. Lewis hosts meeting of local human rights advocates, organizations I ~ Letter to the Editor ~ Malden Senior Center t was refreshing to see the Malden Senior Center open after nearly a year and a half of being closed. On the day it opened I was greeted by employee named Debbie, who greeted me with a warm smile and said: “Welcome stranger!” There are times in life that we do not appreciate many things until we no longer have them. As seniors, we should all be grateful for the opportunities and many programs at the Malden Senior Center. Charles A. Harrington, Malden Last month State Senator Jason Lewis hosted a discussion among human rights advocates and organizations from Malden, Melrose, Reading, Stoneham, Wakefield and Winchester to discuss common challenges and shared objectives across communities. The network of individuals and groups plans to stay in touch to facilitate information sharing and share cross-community opportunities for advocacy and organizing. If you are passionate about human rights or you are involved with a local group working to achieve a human rights-related goal, contact Senator Lewis at Jason.Lewis@ masenate.gov for more information about this new network.
