Page 20 THE MALDEN ADVOCATE–Friday, June 3, 2022 SEAL | FROM PAGE 4 teacher] Mrs. Magner I had to be mindful that if I got elected, I would be taking on a lifetime responsibility, to assure and oversee every class reunion. I gave her my word I would. Another commitment I made to my class and to MHS after our revered Mr. Benotti passed away was to add Mr. B’s name to our class gift. The restoration of the Malden City Seal is our class’ legacy and a memorial to our beloved classmates. It has taken many years and is well overdue but we are now excited to report that with multiple fundraisers through our reunions and donations from local businesses, we are now prepared to fulfi ll that promise.” The rededication will also serve as a celebration of life for the additional nineteen class members lost since graduation. Malden is proud to host a multitude of friends and family members who will be in attendance for this event, including Benotti’s sister, Joan. The ceremony will be streamed live and recorded via Zoom (see connection information below). The video will be preserved with the Class of 1988's historical records. Any comments and chat dialogs will be preserved as well as a part of this history. There is no scheduled rain date for this observance. In the event of inclement weather, this ceremony will be moved indoors to the Jenkins Auditorium located in the Brunelli Building of Malden High School. The Malden Cultural Council works to encourage and promote the artistic development of the arts in Malden through state grant program funding. The Commonwealth of Massachusetts through the Massachusetts Cultural Council allocates funds to Malden each year in support of the fi ne arts, performing art programs, exhibits, festivals, and like programs throughout the community. The main responsibility of the Malden Cultural Council is to review local grant applications and award funding to select proposals, as funding permits. In continuing the great strides the Cultural Council has made in bringing such a wide variety of talented artists to our City, we are eager to recruit members from our diverse community to further the goal of making art accessible to all residents. The majority of meetings are held during grant season (September through December) either on Saturdays or weeknights at a time mutually agreeable to all members. There may be an additional few meetings during the year on a weeknight, scheduled as necessary. Appointees serve a three-year term. The City of Malden is driven by the value of excellence and believes that everyone deserves the best service and access to resources, regardless of their race, gender identity, religion, ethnicity, age, physical abilities, sexual orientation, veteran status, or personal experience.
