Mayor DeMaria could not attend this year’s EHS graduation ceremony due to a prior commitment he made to represent the City on other business. He went to the Hamilton School – now known as the Keverian School – and the Parlin School as a child. In his speech, he mentions the similarity he sees between the current graduating class and his own back in 2005. “Appreciate the bonds you have built in the community of Everett because that hopefulness for the unknown we had back in ’05, I see it here again, and especially in you, class of 2022,” said Velasquez. Mayor DeMaria said he couldn’t have asked for a better person to represent him and the City of Everett. Velasquez gives back to the community through the programs he helps facilitate for the city’s youths, which is his passion. Programs like Mayor DeMaria’s Summer Youth Program, Digital Navigators, and Languages Through Comida are just a few of the ways he works with Everett’s youths. “I hope that Roberto’s example inspires you as much as he inspires me and all those who work with him,” said DeMaria. Roberto Velasquez spoke at the 2022 EHS Graduation Ceremony. Working with the youth in our community and giving back to Everett is one of his passions. He uses his education and the experiences he is gaining to create opportunities for other young adults.
