Preparing for Headship or Acting Headship Facilitated by Stephen Hopkins 9am – 4pm on Thursday 8 June at Morley Hayes, DE7 6DG A one-day development opportunity for senior leaders who are intending to apply to become a Headteacher or Acting Headteacher. The day will take the form of an Assessment Centre to provide participants with the opportunity to practice their skills and receive developmental feedback from their peers. The day will have the following components: 1. Letters of application. Participants will be required to bring with them copies of a letter of application for one of a provided set of advertised posts. They will work with a colleague to consider the effectiveness of their application and how it might be further developed in the next draft. 2. Presentations. Participants will give a 10 minute presentation to five colleagues. Constructive developmental feedback will be provided aimed at developing the quality of presentations within recruitment processes. 3. Interviews. Participants will be interviewed by three of their peers and will receive constructive developmental feedback to support highly effective performance within interviews. 4. Psychometric assessment. Prior to the Assessment Centre participants will be required to complete an on line psychometric questionnaire – AQR MT38 - which looks at Mental Toughness. The output from the questionnaire will be available at the Assessment Centre and participants will work in pairs to discuss the outputs and any arising implications
