MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT Dear Fairfield County Members, 2016 was an eventful year for the HBRA of Fairfield County. We have been in our new office location now for a year. Our EO has had her first full year under her belt, and hired 2 new staff members. Our membership in 2016 has increased by 19% to 392 members with 163 builder members and 229 associate members. Our general membership meetings, events, and education continue to sell out. The Fairfield County membership is active and we are having fun. Special thanks go out to all of the committee members and volunteers who help make the events an enormous success. As a fourth-Generation builder who started off his career in 2005 at the height of the bubble, I have seen more tough years than good. Yes, things seem healthier than what they were, but they can still be BETTER. Connecticut continues to lag behind the Northeast in the economic recovery and in the homebuilding industry. The housing starts have not seen the increase that the rest of the nation has, nor have home prices rebounded. This is a critical time for our industry in CT. We have to get involved and make our voices heard. The HBRA of Fairfield County, along with the home builder associations in the state, is a strong advocate for our industry, but we need your help. Pick up the phone and talk to your senator/representative. Volunteer at home building industry day at the Capitol, and donate your support of our lobbying effort. With Connecticut’s looming budget crisis, we need to fight for our industry. Momentum is on our side and both political parties in Connecticut recognize the need for change.
