Wesley United Methodist Church March 2026 Newsletter What’s Inside: Pastor’s Note Dinner Church UMM & UWF Missions Trustees Upcoming Events

Note from Pastor Jana As March begins, I will be traveling to Dallas with several young clergy to conclude our Emerging Clergy experience with Rev. Adam Hamilton and Rev. Matt Miofsky. This has been a meaningful season of learning, conversation, and reflection alongside other pastors who are seeking to lead faithfully in this time of change within the Church. Recently, I also participated in the first retreat of the Compelling Preaching Initiative. This experience is focused on strengthening the craft of preaching—deepening biblical engagement, sharpening clarity, and learning how to proclaim the good news in ways that are both faithful and relevant. There will be additional gatherings in the months ahead as we continue that work together. In April, Chase and I are blessed to participate in a time of spiritual renewal pilgrimage through the Methodist Foundation for Arkansas. We will travel to Taizé, an ecumenical Christian community in France known for its contemplative worship, prayerful singing, and deep commitment to reconciliation and peace. This opportunity is especially meaningful as it centers not on strategy or skills, but on spiritual renewal—resting in God’s presence and being refreshed for ministry. All of these experiences share a common purpose: to help me become a better pastor for this congregation. Continuing education is not about collecting credentials; it is about remaining attentive to the Holy Spirit’s movement, growing in wisdom, and strengthening the gifts entrusted to me for the sake of Christ’s Church. Healthy leaders continue learning. Faithful pastors continue being formed. I am deeply grateful to serve a congregation that values growth and supports ongoing learning. While I am away at times, the ministry of this church continues because it does not depend on one person. The body of Christ is strong here. Your leadership, service, prayer, and generosity make it possible for this church to flourish. As we journey through Lent, this feels especially fitting. Lent is a season of formation—of returning, refining, and renewing. Just as I am engaging in learning and renewal, each of us is invited into growth as disciples. God is always shaping us, stretching us, and drawing us deeper into love. Thank you for your encouragement and support. I look forward to sharing what I am learning and how it might help us continue to grow together in faith, hope, and love. In Christ, Pastor Jana
