Wesley United Methodist Church August 2024 Newsletter What’s Inside: Pastor’s Note May Recap Upcoming UMM UWF Missions Calendar & More
Note from Pastor Jana We know that all we have is a gift from God. If you have been around the church long enough, you know the Biblical principle of tithing, extravagant giving, and doing for the least and the lost. This letter is NOT about asking for money for the current budget, or even a capital campaign. It IS a letter and invitation for you to think about your legacy and Wesley United Methodist Church that you love dearly. I am inviting you to join me for a 90-minute presentation, Planning a Legacy, that will be held at Cavanaugh UMC on Sunday, August 25th immediately following the 10:45 service. Please plan to arrive around 11:45. The program is being presented by The Methodist Foundation for Arkansas. The Foundation was started by Arkansas Methodists to provide a way for faithful stewards to support Methodist ministries. The Foundation is here to help the local church and people who want to do something for their local church. You will learn basic information about wills, funeral and memorial services, and end of life planning. If you are over 65 you will also learn about ways, you can give that can offer you immediate financial benefits, provide you with a lifetime income, and make a legacy gift to the church. As Christians, we believe in a life after our earthly life, but most of us are not planning for the transition from this life to the next. This presentation will help you think about that planning, including practical information and useful forms. The event includes a meal, which is paid for by the Foundation. Childcare will be provided (also provided by the Foundation) for those with young children (that is correct, it is never too early to start thinking about and making these plans). Thank you for your commitment to the church, and I hope you will prayerfully consider attending this important presentation. contact me. To help plan for the meal, I do ask you register for the event you can sign up by putting your name on the sheet in the back, text or email Pastor Jana. We kindly ask that you register by August 11th. In Christ, Pastor Jana If you have any questions, please
