Wesley United Methodist Church April 2024 Newsletter What’s Inside: Lent Holy Week Feb. Recap UMM UWF Missions Calendar & More
Note from Pastor Jana As Easter people, we know that even in the tragedies of life, God is at work bringing renewal. Some of those renewals we get to experience: national revival, new church projects completed, working towards hunger insecurity. Others, like the death of a loved one, we wait to celebrate in the Kingdom of God to come. As Christians, we experience resurrection every day and are called to share it in our worship and work. Every day can be Easter, all year long. I love the hymn Easter People Raise Your Voices. It was written by Rev. William M. James. He wrote around 50 hymns. He once said “I wrote hymns for my congregation whenever I needed one. 'Easter People' is not the greatest hymn I have, but it took better than the others.” This song is important reminder to live every day as Easter people—individuals whose lives are transformed by the promise of resurrection. Resurrection symbolizes not only the triumph of life over death but also the promise of new beginnings and eternal life. Just as Jesus emerged from the tomb, victorious over death, believers are called to embrace the transformative power of resurrection in our own lives. It is a time for reflection, renewal, and recommitment to living out the principles of love, compassion, and forgiveness exemplified by Christ. We are challenged to let go of fear and doubt, and to embrace hope and faith instead. Just as the disciples were transformed by the resurrection of Jesus, so too are we called to be agents of transformation in the world around us. Through acts of kindness, generosity, and reconciliation, Easter people bear witness to the transformative power of Christ's resurrection and share the message of hope with all they encounter. As we journey through the Easter season, let us embrace our identity as people of resurrection hope. May the joy of Easter inspire us to live boldly, love extravagantly, and proclaim the Good News of new life in Christ. In doing so, may we embody the timeless truth: Christ is risen! He is risen indeed! In Christ, Pastor Jana
