DeSTInaTIOn OTakI The main campus of Te Wānanga o Raukawa is located in Ōtaki. Ōtaki is a small coastal town of about 6,000 residents, an hour north of Wellington and an hour south of Palmerston North. Ōtaki offers four kōhanga reo, a kura kaupapa Māori - Te Kura Kaupapa Māori o Te Rito, a kura ā iwi - Te Kura ā Iwi o Whakatupuranga Rua Mano, and Te Wānanga o Raukawa. Sporting and outdoor activities abound with numerous sports clubs for netball, rugby, tennis, soccer, squash, wakama and is home to the Whiti Te Rā Rugby League Club. The Ōtaki Gorge and Forks are in close proximity giving people outlet for swimming, kayaking, tramping and observing nature (gateway to the Tararua Forest Park). Whether the sun is out or the weather is wet and wild Ōtaki Beach is popular with locals and visitors alike. It’s great for collecting pipi, fishing, swimming, beachcombing. It’s a fun place for the whānau. Ōtaki has a variety of shopping choices. The weather is awesome in the summer months which is why it is known as sunny Ōtaki. Come to Ōtaki.
