These dogs are trained for explosives, drugs, cash, tobacco and body detection. CAN YOU HELP WITH THE LOGISTICS OF SETTING UP A NEW DOG SECTION ABROAD, INCLUDING DOG PROCUREMENT AND TRAINING, AS WELL AS HANDLER TRAINING? Yes. We offer full project management, the supply of dogs, recruitment of suitable handlers and the appropriate siting of a dog section. We arrange all relevant veterinary requirements for the dogs and shipping from the UK to anywhere in the world. ARE YOU ABLE TO TRAIN HANDLERS BASED OVERSEAS? Yes. We have highly experienced and skilled ex UK Armed Forces and Police Instructors. Our team has experience in various hostile environments including Northern Ireland, Iraq, The Balkans, and Afghanistan. They are experienced in training foreign nationals from a number of different countries. CAN YOU HELP WITH PROVIDING HANDLERS FOR WORK OVERSEAS? Yes. Handlers require licenses and DBS and Home Office checks where appropriate. DO YOU REHOME EX WORKING DOGS? Yes. Wagtail ensures that both ex working dogs and dogs that haven’t made the grade are rehomed appropriately at Red Paw Rehoming. Red Paw exclusively deals with dogs that have trained to be detection dogs, meaning the breeds often available are Labradors, Springer Spaniels and German Shepherds. Search dogs usually retire from work between 8 and 10 years of age, and on some occasions their handlers take them on.
