Sept. 25 produces two hole-in-ones in the same group, including an albatross ace! At Bay Pointe Golf and Country Club (Brandon, Miss.) on Saturday, Sept. 25, two members — Al Sinning and Juan Wilson, were playing together in the Men's Group and in the span of nine holes, each had recorded a hole-in-one. Sinning's was first and a more rare as he aced the par-4 ninth from 225 yards away for an albatross ace! Wilson's ace came on the par-3 17th, which was playing 110 yards. Here are all the other aces reported since our last monthly online issue:  Jerry Phillips (Diamondhead, Miss.) recorded a hole-in-one on Sept. 2 at The Club at Diamondhead’s Cardinal Course.The rare shot came on No. 17, which was playing 118 yards.The pitching-wedge shot was witnessed by Brian Knight, Kim Knight, Debra Shea and Larry Bothner.  Edwin Smith registered an ace at BREC’s Webb Memorial Golf Course (Baton Rouge, La.) on Sept. 3.The 115-yard shot was on No. 17 and with a pitching wedge. Witnesses were Ted Hicks, Chet Thompson and Tim Herring. Smith resides in Baton Rouge and is 67.This was his first-ever hole-in-one. He is a member of the Webb Park Golf Association.  On Sept. 6, Chris Scott aced No. 13 from 115 yards out with a pitching wedge at The Wetlands Golf Course in Lafayette, La.This was Scott’s first hole-in-one in 15 years of playing.The shot was witnessed by Clay Judice, Edgar Judice and Ernie Joyner.  John Sullivan recorded a hole-in-one at his home club (The University Club in Baton Rouge, La.) on Sept. 7. The shot was on No. 8 while playing with Bill Meares, David Mongrue and Paul King.  Also on Sept. 7, another member of The University Club (Baton Rouge, La.) recorded an ace. Doc Lopoo also aced the eighth hole. His witnesses were Glen Randow, Tommy Shepard and Phil Slicker.  On Sept. 8, Scottie Smith registered a rare albatross ace on the fifth hole at BREC’s Beaver Creek in Zachary, La.The 310-yard shot was with a driver for the 40-year-old Smith, who was playing with Steve Farmer and Melvin Strother. Smith resides in Roseland, La. and this was his first-ever hole-in-one.  Bay Pointe Golf and Country Club (Brandon, Miss.) member Bill Campbell aced No. 13 on his home course on Sept. 9.The 148-yard shot was with a 7-wood while playing with Billy Mitchell, Douglas Porter and Richard Hodges.  On Sept. 10, Pete McKnight aced the fifth hole at his home club (The University Club in Baton Rouge, La.) while playing with Lucius Butts, Gary Fuller and Greg Scott.  Kade Freeman recorded his first hole-in-one at The Pines at North Park (Denham Springs, La.) on Sept. 13.The 140-yard shot with a 7-iron came on the sixth hole while playing with Dreagen Bethel.  Manny Sandoval aced the fourth hole at Eunice (La.) Country Club on Sept. 13.  On Sept. 17, Bay Pointe Golf and Country Club (Brandon, Miss.) member Jimmy Davis recorded his first ever hole-in-one on No. 13.The 135-yard shot was with an 8-iron.  Jerry Perrero aced the third hole at BREC’s Beaver Creek Golf Course (Zachary, La.) on Sept. 19. The 110-yard shot was with a pitching wedge while playing with Gary Hay. Perrero, 69, resides in Baton Rouge. This was his fifth ace in 45 years of playing.
