Eagle Amateur Tour holds three Final Majors The initial year of the Eagle Amateur Tour ended play in our area with three final major tournaments in Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas. The Mississippi event was the Dennis Lopez Memorial Classic on Sept. 25-26 at The Refuge Golf Course in Flowood. Mike Carey, D.K. Carey won the Player Flight with rounds of 78 and 74, which was three shots better than Ed Veal. Kelly won the First Flight with identical 74s, which was four shots better than Brett Robinson. In the Second Flight, Moss carded rounds of 83 and 81 to defeat Mike Massey by four shots. Dean shot two rounds of 89 for a two-stroke victory over Amrick Singh in the Third Flight. In the Fourth Flight, Bell carded rounds of 89 and 86 to edge Brandon Lorio by four strokes. At Farm d’Allie Golf Club in Carencro, La., David Levingston won the Player Flight with rounds of 69-75 to top Jacob Hamner by three strokes. Burdett’s rounds of 75 and 81 allowed him to finish one shot ahead of Britt Guillory. In the Second Flight,Todd Bourg [80-76] was victorious by three strokes over Thomas Mayeux. Jack Koubi won the Third Flight after his rounds of 82 and 86 put him one stroke ahead of Glenn Biro. In the Fourth Flight, Jeremiah Oalmann shot 91-94 for a seven-stroke victory over Andrew Dozier. At the Louisiana West/Texas East event at Rayburn Rayburn Country Club (Brookeland,Texas), Chad Blanchard, Sam Smith, Jason Katchur, John Mickey and Mike Marshall claimed flight titles. Blanchard shot 79-81 for the five-stroke victory over Doug Cristina in the Player Flight. Smith won the First Flight after his rounds of 84 and 79 ended up being eight shots better than Jeromy Stansbury. Katchur [81-80] won the Second Flight. John Mickey [87-85] won the Third Flight by three strokes over Chuck Pierson. Marshall’s win was in the Fourth Flight. He shot rounds of 94 and 81 for the victory. Senior Final Major takes place at OakWing Golf Club The Eagle Amateur Senior Tour held its Final Major on Sept. 25-26 at OakWing Golf Club in Alexandria, La. James Hamilton won the Player Flight with rounds of 74 as his total was 10 shots better than Robert Garner. In the First Flight, Britt Guillory [80-72-152] was victorious by two shots over Stacy King. In the Second Flight, Don Thompson [78-74152] was victorious over Joe Brown [76-83-159]. In the Third Flight, Scott Hollier won a playoff over Brent Culotta for the title.Andrew Dozier won the Fourth Flight by two strokes over Kenny Granger Sr. Dozier shot rounds of 91 and 90. SEPT. 11 AT THE ISLAND GOLF COURSE (Plaquemine, La.) Hamilton, Mike Carey, Brown, Les Bradley and Nolan LeMaire recorded flight victories. Hamilton won the Player Flight with a 71, which was two shots better than Mike Kapp. Carey won the First Flight with a 70, which was 10 shots better than Poppe Porche. Brown edged Roger Glenn by one shot, 79-80, in the Second Flight. In the Third Flight, Bradley’s 76 was good enough for the win as Clarence Whittington was second at 84.
