LOUISIANA BATON ROUGE METRO BEAVER CREEK GOLF COURSE 1100 E. Plains-Port Hudson Road (Zachary) 225.658.6338 golf.brec.org This 18-hole BREC public facility opened in 2002. The course is known for its popular championship layout and great practice facilities. Yearly rates for 18 holes with cart are $53-$65. The course is located just east of Highway 61 and 20 miles north of downtown Baton Rouge. From downtown Baton Rouge, take I-110 to Highway 61 and follow the signs. Tee times available online. HISTORIC CITY PARK GOLF COURSE 1442 City Park Ave. (Baton Rouge) 225.387.9523 golf.brec.org This 9-hole BREC public facility opened in 1926 and is on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2022, local artist Bert Fleming took a damaged tree and carved a Tom Bendelow (course designer) statue out of it. Bendelow is known as the Johnny Appleseed of American Golf. The course is located north of I-10 (Dalrymple Exit). The course is popular for a quick round in the heart of the capital city. Yearly rates (with cart) are $20-$22 for nine holes and $32-$34 for 18 holes. Tee times available online. J.S. CLARK GOLF COURSE 2301 Thomas Road (Baton Rouge) 225.775.9008 golf.brec.org This 9-hole BREC public facility opened in 1951 and got a major renovation in 2023. The course was stretched to over 3,000 yards and features huge greens. When played as an 18-hole course, the total yardage is 6,324 yards. This facility is named after Joseph Samuel Clark, who was the first president of nearby Southern University. The course has a lighted driving range and short-game practice area. Yearly rates for nine holes (with cart) are $20-$22 and $32-$34 for 18 holes (with cart). Tee times available online. SANTA MARIA GOLF COURSE 18460 Santa Maria Parkway (Baton Rouge) 225.752.9667 golf.brec.org This 18-hole BREC public facility opened in 1986 and is located just off I-10 (Exit 166) in south Baton Rouge. Santa Maria is known for its rolling terrain, mature oaks, many lakes and two natural waterways. The two-story Spanish Clubhouse features a pro shop, restaurant, private conference center and a fitness center. The course is 15 minutes from downtown Baton Rouge. It plays just under 7,000 yards from the tips. Yearly rates (with cart) are $55-$65. Tee times available online. THE ISLAND GOLF COURSE 23550 Myrtle Grove Road (Plaquemine) 225.685.0808 www.theislandgolf.com Located only 14 miles from downtown Baton Rouge, this semi-private facility is located safely away from the hustle and bustle of the capital city. The course features nine man-made lakes resulting in water on all but one hole. Despite the water, this championship tract is designed for fun. The front nine is played clockwise and the back nine is played counterclockwise. Take Hwy. 1 south from I-10 and then turn right on Bayou Jacob Road. Yearly 18-hole rates with cart are $55-$65 (plus tax). Course is closed on Mondays. WEBB MEMORIAL GOLF COURSE 1351 Country Club Drive (Baton Rouge) 225.383.4919 golf.brec.org Opened in 1920s, this historic 18-hole BREC public facility is located just north of I-10 at Exit 158 (College Drive). The course features large oak trees lining many holes. This facility was private for the first 20 years of its existence (as Westdale Country Club). BREC acquired the course in 1957. The yearly rates for 18 holes and cart are $35-$39. There is no driving range, but outside hitting bays are ample facilities to get warmed up before your round.
