Lunch and Learn History Series H It’s a Woman’s War, too: Local Members of the Women’s Army Corps Tuesday, January 17, at 12:00 p.m. Molly Sampson, Director, Maritime Museum of Sandusky, presenter The largest women’s branch of the military in WWII was the Women’s Army Corps. Originally founded in 1942 as an Auxiliary Corps, by 1945 150,000 women had enlisted. Join historian Molly Sampson for a brief history of the WAC, highlighting local servicewomen. Black Men in Blue: The Civil War, Ohioans, and the 27th United States Colored Troops Tuesday, February 21, at 12:00 p.m. Dr. Kelly Mezurek, Historian and Author, presenter Dr. Mezurek will discuss how Ohioans reacted to the enlistment of African American troops, the Ohio Black community’s response to the national confl ict, and the impact of their service. The focus of the presentation is on the 5th and 27th USCT, the two Black regiments raised in the state, with special attention given to the greater Sandusky area soldiers and veterans. The Women Who Built Hollywood Thursday, March 9, at 6:30 p.m. Dr. Annette Bochenek, historian, presenter Women have been highly infl uential in the fi lm industry ever since the Silent Era, both on-screen and off . Join fi lm historian Dr. Annette Bochenek for a virtual presentation about the lives and legacies of some of classic Hollywood’s incredible female directors and stars who possessed a keen sense of business acumen and innovation during the early days of the fi lm industry. The program will include a multimedia presentation of photos, video clips, and captivating stories. Longert of six has appeared on numerous radio and television programs, most recently on the documentary, War on the Diamond, an in depth look at the rivalry between the Cleveland Indians/ Guardians and the New York Yankees.
