Explore a different topic each session through STEAM learning, crafts, and activities. (all ages) Book Quest Thursdays, at 10:30 a.m. June 20: No One Leaves the Castle by Christopher Healy June 27: The Mouse and the Motorcycle by Beverly Cleary July 11: Fart Quest by Aaron Reynolds July 25: The Many Meanings of Meilan by Andrea Wang Kids entering grades 4-8 in the fall of 2024 are invited to join us this summer for Book Quest! Each week, we will listen to the beginning of a book, while completing activities, making crafts, and enjoying snacks. Participants do not need to read the books ahead of the session, but copies will be available afterwards for checkout. The books being used are selections for the 2024 Battle of the Books, but students do not have to be a part of the Battle of the Books team to attend Book Quest! Chalk the Walk Monday, July 29, at 10:00 a.m. Decorate the Library's sidewalks with sidewalk chalk creations! (Chalk will be provided, no registration required.) TEAM Bubble Blast Tuesday, July 30, at 10:00 a.m. Join us for lots of bubble fun outside. Come prepared to play and have bubbly fun! Play Doh Playdate Wednesday, July 31, at 10:00 a.m. Get ready to be creative at our Play Doh Playdate! Stations will be set up for children to try and create Play Doh masterpieces using different tools and accessories. Eat. Play. Eat. Grow. Tuesdays, August 6, 13, 20, at 10:00 a.m. This is a program for children aged 0-6 and their caregivers designed to teach healthy lifestyle habits at an early age. Each week features a story, fun physical activity, craft, and a healthy snack. Library staff will work collaboratively with a SNAP-Ed program assistant from OSU Extension for this program. Harold and the Purple Crayon Party Wednesday, August 14, at 10:00 a.m. Join us as we celebrate all things Purple! We will explore books in the Harold and the Purple Crayon series and complete crafts and activities that are purple. Do you love to read? Are you ready to compete against teams from other area libraries to show what you know? Join Team Sandusky Library for the 2024 Battle of the Books! Battle of the Books is a fun book trivia contest for students that will be in grades 4-8 in the fall of 2024. Students that participate will receive a Battle of the Books t-shirt as well as a lanyard. They can earn badges for Battle of the Books titles they read throughout the summer. This year's Battle of the Books will be held on Saturday, September 7 at 9:30 a.m. at St. John's Lutheran Church, 209 Southwest St, Bellevue, OH, 44811. Questions for this year's Battle will be taken from the following 8 book titles.
