DIRECTOR'S UPDATE As summer draws to a close, the Library’s current building restoration project nears completion. The scaffolding that has embraced the Library’s Adams Street entrance for months is being dismantled. The Library’s tile roof replacement is progressing, and soon the decorative finials will be returned to their resting place at the top of the turrets. The Follett House north staircase is being rebuilt to its historic appearance. Both buildings will be secure for winter and ready for the next chapter. At the start of the school year, we welcome families to explore the Library’s cultural and educational programs and services. We have a new Resources for Educators brochure available for teachers and parents that highlights enhanced learning opportunities offered. Parents are encouraged to visit the Library with their children and register for a library card in September, although library cards are in season any time of year. In other exciting news, the Library welcomes Celeste Fortunato as the new Fiscal Officer. Although Celeste is new to Sandusky, she calls northeast Ohio home. Celeste’s career in public finance has taken stops in city government, a community college, the Auditor of State’s office, and libraries. Celeste attributes her service in and love of libraries to her fourth-grade teacher and their first visit to the neighborhood library of her childhood. We are pleased to have Celeste join our team.
