ATE y aels er "We have followed , now we lead thrilled when I saw that class motto . I was . It put me aback a little bit when I first read it , and when I started thinking about it , but the more I thought about this particular motto of yours, the more I felt that it was arrived at without any mentalres ervation and hesitation on your parts. And my second thought upon reading this motto was this: They are completely cognizant of what they are saying. They have thought this thing through very carefully, because this is a tremendous motto for any group of people, especially high school seniors to present . Tonight, as always, you are telling the world that we have followed and now you lead. That is a challenge, isn't it, and that places an awful lot of responsibility right squarely upon your shoulders, and I sincerely hope that you will never lose this challenging, forward look which you have started your second step of life as it 's sometimes called and it 's for this reason that you see printed on your programs this evening a part of my sermon question that I would like to direct to this senior class. We will be depending upon you, upon each one of you, upon what each one of you can do and each individual will make a difference in what happens in this world. Each of you is important , including those of you whom I hope someday in the future will get your complete edu cation before you are married - . The question we must ask ourselves is this: 'How do we behave, or what stance do we assume in the face of such a scientific growth previously described? ' As most of you have heard or read in recent months, the past is but prologue to the future. What you have done in the past will help guide you in the future. I would ask you to remember one thing. I would give you a text to guide you on your way; a text that I think is so drastically important for you people. It is taken from the 8th Chapter of the Gospel according to St. John , reading in the 32nd verse as follows: . 'Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. ' Understand the implications, the first part of this saying is important you love God , you can do as you please. Good luck. God bless you and keep that sparkle and twinkle in your eyes . If -
