Altars are places of open invitation and relationship with God, however conversations of the temple came into place, when the man of God David had a conviction within himself that he dwells in a good house and yet the Ark of the Covenant of God dwells in tents. We see that by God telling him that his hands are full of bloodstains and that his son Solomon will be the one to build it, this did not mean that Solomon had clean hands and that he had not killed anyone, because we see his father David clearly instruct him to take vengeance over those who let`s per say disturbed him [David] while he was still king.
