I was born in Mexico. When I was growing up, I realized that we had many needs, but the saddest was when it rained, because the water from a ravine that crossed the side of the house got all over the house. I decided to come to California. I was seventeen years old when I got to Los Angeles, California. I was very excited but sad and alone in a very big place. I started looking for work, but it was very difficult for me— nobody wanted to give me a job. For a year I worked part time. One day, my cousin told me that he opened a space where he worked. I was very excited, but I couldn’t make a home for my parents, because my salary would make very little. Then I decided to move to Mountain View, California and things started to go much better. I started meeting good people, especially someone who taught me how to drive a tractor. Finally, I could build a house for my parents. During that time I met my great wife. Now we have two great children and my dream is that they both graduate from college. R.B. is in the Beginning High ESL evening class Sam is in the Beginning Combo ESL Senior class in the morning
