İNSANCA, PEK İNSANCA (PANDEMİ) DECENT WORK AND ECONOMİC GROWTH Promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth, employment and decent work for all There is an urgent need for better, safer and more diversified jobs in the rural areas where most of the world's poor live and work. Agriculture is the most important employer in the world, especially in developing countries, where it generates a large share of GDP. However, the majority of workers, especially the young, are employed in fragile and poorly paid jobs in the informal rural economy, a situation that often drives them to migrate to urban areas where labor markets often already have sufficient labor. Food and agriculture can help solve the employment problem. There are largely untapped reservoirs of agricultural and non-agricultural employment opportunities, in the agricultural sphere and beyond - agri-food supply chains linked to sustainable agriculture, agribusiness development and related support services. FAO supports countries in developing policies that generate decent jobs in rural areas, increasing access to finance and investment for smallholder producers, helping to strengthen technical and entrepreneurial capacities, and improving working conditions and labor standards, particularly for youth, women and migrant workers.
