Behind the Brand LIGHT N CRAFTY cheryl marshal l Light n Crafty is a one-of -a-kind business in Australia and was established when Cheryl Marshall researched how to make her own upcycled treasure…and the headache making such items can be. She remembers, “Have you ever seen those beautiful, crafty, upcycling projects on Pinterest, Facebook or Instagram and thought ‘Wow, that's a great idea! I should do that! ’ And then never do? That was me. For me that project was a beautiful bottle lamp. I pinned the post to my board and excitedly click on the link. “So the post is telling me that this is going to be easy. Great! But then I see the words that brings dread to my heart. ‘Things you will need: A glass drill bit.’ No, not just any drill bit, apparently I need a glass one. At this point I’m fairly certain that I don’t have one of those in my toolbox and am also pretty sure that those ones have a diamond tip and the price tag to match. I'll be honest, the first thing that went through my mind was ‘I wonder if cubic zirconia ones are available and a bit cheaper?’ “This work of art that I completely believed I was about to create is now more likely to shower me in glass than compliments and confetti. I felt so deflated and disappointed. I think I might have even scolded myself for being so stupid as to entertain the idea that I could pull off something so artistic. That’s when the idea of the bottle lamp kit came to me. I thought I can’t be alone in this. I can’t be the only person that wants to be creative but either doesn’t have the time, confidence, or let’s be honest enough energy to source all the different things on the ‘you will need’ list. So I created Light n Crafty and the super quick and easy craft kit that is guaranteed to look great when finished and comes with everything you need actually inside the box.” Light n Crafty strives to produce craft kits that are ethically and, where possible, Australian sourced. All of the materials Cheryl supplies in her kits must be of a high quality and standard and produce an achievable high finish. They must also have everything needed to complete the project whilst being simpleenough for any level of ability to complete. Finally, they must be priced to be accessible to all. Cheryl is excitedly preparing to launch craft workshops soon and is also planning to offer her services to make or refurbish custom pieces. We can't wait! LOVE OF HOME | 2020 August Shopping Guide
