Behind the Brand STUDIO NIKULINSKY phi l ippa ni kul insky and angela ni kul insky Studio Nikulinsky is a family partnership created in 2017 by writer and designer Angela Nikulinsky to widely share the artwork of her mother-in-law, Philippa Nikulinsky. Angela told us: “I founded Studio Nikulinsky to share my motherin-law's amazing artwork while also creating a job that enabled me to stay at home after having my first child.” Philippa’s career focuses on a lifetime fascination with the flora and fauna of the arid lands of Western Australia. For nearly 50 years Philippa has travelled throughout this enormous state to record, draw and paint its phenomenal natural history. She has shared her gift for watercolour painting through her teaching, exhibitions, commissioned works and publications. Philippa was awarded an Order of Australia medal in 2016 for her contribution to the arts as well as an Honorary Doctorate (UWA) in 2019. Angela describes Studio Nikulinsky in a nutshell: “We design beautiful botanical art stationery and gifts that are made in Australia with an eco-friendly ethos and commitment to Australian manufacturing. The artwork is incredibly detailed as well as accurate in size, shape and colour of the subject.
