LAMGA By David Kubissa August was National Golf Month, begun by the PGA in 1993 to promote the sport. For LAMGA, every month, actually every week, is a chance to promote golf here at Lake Ashton. Over the two months, there will be plenty of chances for new and returning LAMGA members to compete in weekly games. Let’s have a look ahead by unpacking some of the fun in store for September and October. LAMGA members can try to Beat the Pros on September 2. Lake Ashton pros Ian Peterson and Matt Auen will be joined by General Manager Kevin Baker and Troon Regional Director of Operation Brian Rhodes in challenging the weekly field of LAMGA participants. On September 23, the second Red Hoagland Challenge will be the LAMGA game of the week, with the Red and Blue teams facing off for bragging rights. That showdown will be followed by lunch at the Eagle’s Nest. Look for the signup sheet starting September 16. The fun continues into October with the annual LAMGA-LALGA (Ladies Golf Association) Shirts and Skirts outing on Tuesday, Oct. 27, and Wednesday, Oct. 28. The first day is a shamble and the second is a scramble. Lunch follows the second-day round. Save these dates and look for a reminder in the October LAMGA report. If you’re new to Lake Ashton, consider joining the men’s or women’s leagues. The LAMGA application is available in the pro shop or online at the LAMGA page on LakeAshtonLiving.com.
