The deadline to register to vote is October 5, and the deadline to request a Vote-By-Mail ballot is October 22. Residents assigned to the Lake Ashton Clubhouse polling location will vote in the Ballroom on Election Day. Because polling locations can vary by precinct, residents should verify their assigned polling location before heading to the polls. ELECTRONIC STORAGE DEVICE COLLECTION By Heidi White Lake Ashton has an ongoing electronic storage device collection. Unwanted cell phones, hard drives, cameras, tablets, SD cards, trackers and USB drives can be placed in the collection bin in the Clubhouse Ballroom kitchen. Please do not donate charging cords or remote controls. Rather than taking up space in drawers and cabinets or ending up in a landfill, these devices can help train electronic storage detection (ESD) dogs. These specially trained dogs can detect chemical compounds found in electronic storage devices and locate devices hidden inside walls, furniture and even underwater. ESD dogs assist law enforcement in finding critical evidence in crimes including child exploitation, human trafficking, pornography, homicides and money laundering. Their duties also include deescalation, workplace therapy, facilitating victim disclosures and providing emotional support to victims. Devices do not need to be in working order, as the chemical compound remains present. If the device is still active, please erase its memory before donating.
