LA NINERS By Sandy Hockenberry Congratulations to Niners Vice President, Brenda Bowden for an Eagle on 9 East on July 28, 2025. Way to go Brenda, the Niners are proud of you! The Niners would like to give a warm welcome and thank you to the new Pro Shop General Manager, Kevin Baker. Kevin is doing a terrific job and initiating, much needed changes to benefit the course and membership. Kevin was even kind enough to bring cold, wet towels to the Niners, out onto the course on an extremely hot and humid July day. It provided some much needed relief and was very much appreciated. With the recent heat and humidity, the Niners have adjusted the games on a week-by-week basis, depending on conditions. Proposed games scheduled for September are: September 2: 1-2-3 Shamble – each team member hits a tee-shot, best ball is selected and everyone plays from there on Par-3; Par-4, the first two best balls are selected and played from there; and Par-5, the first three best balls are selected and played from there. (team game) September 9: Pink Ball Shamble 2 Best Nets – regular Shamble with two best nets recorded. Each team member will alternate using one pink ball on each hole. If the pink ball is lost during play, the team is not eligible to win the round. The team who still has their pink ball and the lowest score at the end of the round, wins. (team game) September 16: Individual Low Gross/Low Net – Playing your own ball, the lowest gross and lowest net in your flight wins. (individual game) September 23: Modified Alternate Shot – 2 person team, best drive is selected. Whose ever drive is selected, the other person plays the next shot, shots are alternated until the ball is holed. (team game) September 30: 2 Person Scramble – A + D players play a regular scramble and B + C players play a regular scramble. (team game) The Niners new league season starts October 7th. Anyone wishing to join a fun, laidback group of women for a relaxing 9 holes of golf Tuesday mornings, please stop by the Pro Shop and fill out an application. LALGA By Beverly Hines Whew, has it been hot! A big thank you to Kevin Baker, General Manager, and Matt Aeun, Golf Pro, for delivering scented cooling towels to members on the course for our play day on July 29 as it was extremely hot that day. They continued to make the scented cooling towels and ice available to all players during the hot August days. We are blessed to have such a caring team of professionals in our Pro Shop. Looking forward to cooler temperatures and some afternoon showers this month. November 1 is the beginning of our LALGA year.
