CLUBS GARDEN CLUB By Pam Klawinski The Lake Ashton Garden Club will be back to regular meetings on the second Wednesday of each month at 10 am in the Pavilion starting September 10. This month’s meeting will feature “Gene, The Barefoot Gardener”! Gene will be sharing his expertise by giving us tips on getting our gardens ready for Fall flowers and how to be creative in your gardening. Autumn will be here before we know it so please bring your questions! Gene will have the answers! The club welcomes anyone interested in learning or just acquiring knowledge to attend any meeting. No green thumb necessary. LA BLACK HERITAGE CLUB By Charles Roland On September 22, 1862, the Preliminary Emancipation Proclamation was announced. That announcement of “Freedom” allows us to live together now. Today we can regard one another in Lake Ashton with respect, kindness and seeking understanding. Our neighbors come from different locations and backgrounds, and all have demonstrated a love for our Country and its people. We all appreciate our neighborhood and want the best for it as well. One thing for certain is that the legacy we leave behind is important to all of us. To that end, if we toss out labels and stereotypes and simply talk to one another, we will find we have similarities. We can do ourselves well by recognizing that a “Party” or “color” does not make the person. How we treat each other shows what we truly value. If we see you, you will be greeted with a smile. We hope we get one in return. MAGIC YEARS CLUB By Lynne Judd Are you a Disney lover? Then the Magic Years Club is the place for you! Come share your experiences at WDW or, if you are a newbie and interested in learning more, come and join the Club at its meeting on Monday, September 8, at 7 pm in the HFC Craft Room. Ask questions about Annual Passes (they can save you a lot) or about the Disney Vacation Club (Disney's timeshare). Debbie and Patrick Rapp have agreed to host this 28 month's meeting. We usually have a discussion about some aspect of Walt Disney World and then enjoy challenging our Disney knowledge with a trivia quiz. Call Lynne Judd at 631-987-3230 with questions. LA DEMOCRATIC CLUB By Howard Mayne The Lake Ashton Democratic Club will hold their next monthly meeting Thursday, September 4 in the HFC Community Center at 6:30 pm with social time at 6. LA REPUBLICAN CLUB By Linda Sandel The Lake Ashton Republican Club will meet Wednesday, September 24 at the Clubhouse. Check-in and social time starts at 3:30 pm and the meeting begins at 4. Bobby, founder of The Freedom Tour, distributes over one million pounds of food and essential goods in just one month to families in need. Bobby will share his priorities which include: Preserve Florida, Education, Housing, Agriculture and Disaster Relief. Guests are welcome! The LARC is having a Christmas dinner dance on Friday, December 5 at 5:30 pm at the Clubhouse. Save the Date! More info will be shared at the September meeting. CAMERA CLUB By Larry Hillock The Camera Club will begin the fall season on Monday, October 13 at 10:30 am in the Clubhouse Cinema.
