LAVA AUXI L IARY By Chris Graves Next meeting: September 15 at 6:30 pm Welcome to members, and for those of you who are not yet a member, come see what the group is about: supporting veterans and having fun along the way. Meet at the Clubhouse near the stage. This month, plans for the Craft Fair on October 23 will be finalized and the upcoming calendar of events will be reviewed. Bakers are needed to make homemade goodies for the Craft Fair. Please call Committee Chairperson Carol Fitch at 863-845-7028 if you can help — it is much appreciated. More detail will follow in October’s LA Times. The Craft Fair is a fundraiser benefitting veterans with the proceeds earmarked for Habitat for Humanity’s “Tiny Homes for Veterans Project”. More than 40 vendors have already signed up and there will be “LOTS OF LOTTO MONEY!” There will be one raffle tree with three chances to win! Tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Each winner will win $100 worth of scratch off lottery tickets! Please come support the Veterans and take the opportunity to purchase unique, hand-crafted items including metal art work, crocheted items, not to mention you could be one of the lucky winners of a raffle or door prize! Save the date for the USO Dance November 5 — more information to follow. SINGLES GROUP By Maureen Ziegler The LA Singles group plans activities for Lake Ashton residents who are single. The group meets monthly on the first Sunday of the month at 2 pm in the Cinema. In August, the singles discussed several outings and opportunities for social activities. If you would like to take part in activities with other singles, attend the meeting on September 5. 35
