EVENTS JEWISH HIGH HOLIDAY SERVICES By David Harrison The Lake Ashton community is invited to attend the Jewish High Holiday Services. Rosh Hashanah (Jewish New year) will be September 6 at 7 pm in the HFC Community Center. Yom Kippur (Day of Atonement) will be September 15 at 7 pm in the HFC Community Center. Yizkor (Memorial Service) will be September 16 at 2 pm in the HFC Community Center. All residents are encouraged to attend and find out why the New Year is celebrated in September. For more info, contact David Harrison at 863-326-6418. PATRIOT DAY OBSERVANCE By Jim Mecsics LAVA will be holding a small observance on September 11 at the Veterans Memorial. It will consist of a bugler and portions of the honor guard who will perform “Taps” at 8:46 am, 9:03 am — when the planes hit the Twin Towers, 9:47 am — when the plane hit the Pentagon, and 10:03 am, when the plane crashed in Pennsylvania. All residents are invited to attend. HFC HAPPY HOUR KARAOKE Come down to the HFC September 17 for an Upbeat Happy Hour Karaoke from 3 to 6 pm. For this event, disc jockey Wayne will be providing the music for you to sing and dance along to. This event will also be a BYOB and snacks event, so don’t miss out on the fun with your friends and neighbors.
