(continued from p. 35) Ball. No experience is required. Anyone who is playing would be more than happy to teach you and go over the Lake Ashton Friendly Bocce Ball rules and regulations. The Committee has already begun planning our 2026 Friendly Bocce Season. The Bocce Tailgate Parties will resume in January on the third Friday of each month from 4 to 6 pm. Everyone is asked to bring an appetizer to share and your own (non-alcoholic) drinks. We are planning our Annual Potluck again in January 2026. We will be having our Annual Tournament with more information forthcoming. Any questions, contact Stephanie Iszak at 609-980-9505 or at siszak@comcast.net or Tammy Shields at 863632-2024 or at tammy.shields1221@gmail.com. We are looking forward seeing everyone back on the courts and to having many new Friendly Bocce players. SENIOR SOFTBALL By Bob Zelazny Love the game you played as a kid? The Winter Haven Senior Softball Club welcomes men and women age 55 and older to join the fun! With over 160 members (including 10 from Lake Ashton), games are played Tuesdays and Fridays at 9 a.m. at the DiamondPlex Complex across from Polk State College. The league has two divisions based on ability, with rules focused on safety and fair play— because while everyone likes to win, fun is the real goal. Membership is just $50 per year, which includes two uniforms, three social events, and an end-ofseason family BBQ. Not sure yet? Try one game for free! For details or to join, contact Bob Zelazny at 863-325-8098. He can also connect you with local players for carpooling. SUPPORT COMMUNITY CLUBS, GROUPS, AND ORGANI ZATIONS Residents interested in joining a new group should visit the Clubhouse or HFC Activities Office to obtain the contact information for the facilitator of the club, group, or organization they are trying to join. Staff always encourages residents to become more involved in community activities designed to benefit the body, mind, and spirit and with the support of the many club, group, and organization facilitators this will be possible for everyone. Supervisors and staff would like to extend a special thank you to all the club, group, and organization facilitators. These volunteers work very hard to ensure there is a robust activities schedule for all to enjoy. Lake Ashton is lucky to have a large number of residents willing to volunteer their time in one way or another for everyone to live their best retired life. Be sure to thank a volunteer when you see them.
