LAKE ASHTON FRIENDS OF MEALS ON WHEELS By Marcia Santino Our month-long fundraiser got off to a great start on October with our Kickoff Event at the Clubhouse. The feedback from those attending was very positive. We learned about MOWPolk operations from Susan Eldridge, Executive Director and Sheriff Judd emphasized the value of having a purpose and the importance of community service such as through volunteerism. There are two weeks left in this year’s campaign. Please watch the Monday Blasts on November 3 and 10 for a weekly list of locations and times tickets may be purchased for the 52 quality items being offered for raffle. Our Grand Finale to close the fundraiser will be the World Kindness Day Dance on Thursday, November 13 at the Clubhouse Ballroom from 7 to 10 pm featuring the music of 99 in the Shade. Tickets still remain at the time of this writing, please see our advertisement in the Events section for complete details. You may also purchase dance tickets wherever raffle tickets are being sold. If you are in need of services, interested in volunteering or would like to make a monetary charitable donation to MOWPolk, please call: 863-299-1616. To become a member of the LAFOMOW Club please email lafomow@gmail.com. Next Second Chance Donation Day: November 20. LA ROCKERS By MJ Richards One message at just the right moment can change someone’s entire day, outlook, life. LA Rockers is a group of LA residents who are sharing the message of kindness by painting and hiding rocks throughout the neighborhood for people to find and, hopefully, bring a smile. Don’t you love finding a rock or seeing one posted on Talk of Lake Ashton? We meet twice a month as a group to learn new techniques, paint rocks and just have fun. You don’t have to be an artist to join in on the mission! We would love to have you! For more information, contact MJ at mjmrichards517@gmail.com. 32 GENEALOGY CLUB By Jane Imparl The next genealogy meeting will be held on Wednesday, November 12 at 2 pm in the HFC Craft Room. We have had a great time learning how to use AI to help us develop research plans and transcribe/translate difficult to read documents. We have also started learning how to use old newspapers to add more interest to the stories of our ancestors. Come join the fun to start or restart your genealogy research. All levels of expertise are welcome to join us. Any questions may be directed to Jane Imparl at 815-545-6655.
