It is daisy-like in appearance with yellow and brown in the center. The flower itself can grow to 12 to 24 inches in height. It is a spreading perennial and will quickly fill a bare spot. It can spread two to four feet. The sunflower does best in full sun and is drought tolerant. In our area it blooms nearly year round. Why plant beach sunflower in your yard? Besides the beautiful flower, it’s a great plant for pollinators, especially butterflies. You needn’t water it much since it likes hot-dry areas. Gardeners can use it for wind erosion protection. The only care is cutting it back in March or April to help promote more growth. For more information visit UF/IFAS Extension and look up wildflowers. FREE IN-HOME ESTIMATES!
