LACDD NEWS By Christine Wells, LA (LW) CDD Community Director April showers bring May flowers and many fun events to help residents enjoy the community. A special Ladies Day event is planned on May 13 and will feature a fashion show and vendors offering free items, samples and discounts for ticket holders only. LA’s first ‘80s party will be held on May 20 … it is sure to be totally rad! Tickets can be purchased for both of these events at the Clubhouse Activities Desk. May is also a time to recognize Military Personnel and Veterans on Armed Forces Day and Memorial Day. Lake Ashton is fortunate to have an impressive Veterans Memorial that is used for special ceremonies including the Memorial Day program on May 30. See page 23 for more information on the special events hosted by the Lake Ashton Veterans Association for all Lake Ashton Veterans. A budget workshop was held April 4 where Supervisors considered maintenance agreements, potential capital projects and the operating budget for fiscal year 2023 (October 1, 2022 - September 30, 2023). The Board had a regular board meeting on April 18 to discuss the budget further, including naming the capital projects for fiscal year 2023. The Board also approved of a project to enclose the Activities Desk area in the Ballroom, creating additional office and storage space. Once complete residents will be able to enter the main entrance to the Clubhouse and receive immediate assistance from the Activities Desk. The installation of a new 4K projector and the raising of seats in the Cinema was approved to improve the movie-going experience for residents. A wrap-up of additional actions and staff reports that were presented was sent via email blast on April 23. Please visit lakeashtoncdd.com for the full minutes of the meeting, once approved, in addition to the full agenda packet for this meeting. This year, three LA (LW) CDD Supervisor seats are up for election on November 8. The General Election qualifying period runs from noon on June 13 until noon on June 17.
