LA COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE UPDATE By Kay Teehan The Lake Ashton Community Action Committee is a group of volunteers representing Lake Ashton residents who are working to understand and communicate about the planned residential developments surrounding Lake Ashton, and the road construction plans that may impact the quality of life in this community. This committee will be presenting an update of what is known at the Monday Morning Coffee on May 9. You can see the group’s progress on lakeashtonliving.com in the LA Community Action Committee forum. You can also email LakeAshtonAction@gmail.com if you would like to help with this project. ROAD CLEANUP By Linda Sandel A Lake Ashton quarterly litter clean-up event is scheduled for Thompson Nursery Road from Hwy. 27 to County Road 653 on May 18 at 9 am. Meet at the Clubhouse Lobby to pick up assignments, safety vests, trash bags and gloves. Sign up at the Clubhouse Activities Desk. Have fun and get some exercise while keeping the community beautiful! Contact Linda with questions at 863-368-0699 or Sandelly7@gmail.com. HOMELESS GRADUATING HIGH SCHOOL SENIORS By Doris Reisinger GENEROSITY is the act of sharing with others without any expectation of something back in return. This describes Lake Ashton residents. Again this year you shared your blessings with these homeless teens. Their bright future, though difficult, will be helped by your generosity. Shufflin' Squares again donated enough for six duffle bags. One resident donated enough for the lap tops. Hector with Powur, a vendor at Monday Coffee, donated enough cash for two duffle bags and contents. More residents donated in all amounts this year. The wishes expressed on the banner reflect the love in Lake Ashton. Their party was held on April 19 with the banner hung showing that the community cares. Total donations were $9,165 plus two boxes of domestic items! Thank you to the Activities staff who handled collecting the donations. OPEN BOCCE PLAY Wednesdays are now designated as an open play day on the Bocce Courts at the Clubhouse. Stop by and play anytime between 6 am and 10 pm (there are lights on the Bocce Courts). Please be mindful of the rules posted on the light poles to ensure the courts remain in great shape. The storage container closest to the Pool is open and available for everyone to use.
