GOLF LALGA By Beverly Hines The LALGA annual Member -Member Tournament was held February 9 – 10. Each 2person team selected a teammate to play the 2day tournament which was flighted so many had a chance to win. We even had closest to the pin both days. First day was held on the East with the format of Best ball and net score of the team. Second day was a 2-person scramble. Both days scores were added to get final winners in each flight. The theme of FORE THE LOVE OF GOLF brought out many creative matching outfits. Because it isn't just about golf but camaraderie. Then after golf on the second day, we all enjoyed a luncheon at the Eagles Nest. Congratulations to all the players. This event was a packed house with 63 golfers. A success to be sure. Thanks a bunch for your donations for the We Care for Kids Hygiene Kits drive. It was very successful. Donation will go to Lake Wales/ Winter Haven High School. Welcome to the LALGA’s newest member, Penny Whittington, and congratulations to Donna Larsen (pictured right) for her Albatross (Double Eagle) on #5 West! LA NINERS By Sandy Hockenberry Oh, for the love of golf! These Niners beauties would not be deterred by temperatures in the low 40’s. They persevered through the wind and the cold, when most others chose to stay warm and cozy at home. The Winter Worriers pictured here from left to right are Pamela June, Debbie Shillito, Karen Ferrande, Denise LaCaprucia, Liz Meigel and Brenda Bowden. Mar ch games include: March 3: Toss and Roll Scramble – Everyone drives, the best drive is selected and everyone plays their own ball until their ball is holed. Toss or roll one shot on any one hole, on the fairway, out of bunker or on the green. Toss or roll counts as a stroke and cannot be used on the “closest to the pin” hole. (team game) March 9 and 10: Niners/Blue Man Par 3 Ringer Tournament – Two players from the Niners and two players from the Blue Men play a team game on day one. (Continued on p. 42)
