LA COMMUNITY GARDEN By Lynn Davis and Karen McLemore Just ahead of the recent cold snap, our Community Garden volunteers sprang into action, quickly covering beds and tender plants to protect months of careful growth. At the same time, we shared timely tips across neighborhood social media, helping fellow residents shield their own vegetable gardens and delicate landscape plants from the chill. We’re also thrilled to share that our recent fundraising efforts were a great success! Thanks to the generosity and enthusiasm of our community, we’re able to continue growing, improving, and expanding our garden programs. Your support truly helps this shared space thrive. Mark your calendars for our next Community Garden meeting on March 18 at 1:30 pm in the HFC Craft Room, when annual dues will be collected and fun new subcommittees—including our “Garden Welcome” initiative—will be introduced. By popular demand, our soap-making session returns March 20, from 1 to 3 pm ($10 for nonmembers). And, as always, enjoy our seasonal recipes inspired by what’s ripening in the garden! GARDEN CLUB By Pam Klawinski The February meeting featured Gene, The Barefoot Gardener, who shared his experienced tips on taking care of our plants that were damaged in the cold spell we experienced last month. Patience was the key word. PLEASE NOTE: The March Meeting will meet one week later than usual, on March 18, and will be a Field Trip to Bok Tower Gardens to see the Camellias and Azaleas. We will meet in the East Parking Lot of the Clubhouse near the Pet Park at 9:30 am for some short club announcements and then try to arrange car pooling. Bring your Bok Tower Membership card if you have one and there may also be 30 some Bok Tower members that will have passes to share, otherwise be prepared to purchase an entrance fee at the Gardens. Hope to see you there to enjoy these lovely gardens that we are so lucky to have so close to us. MAGIC YEARS CLUB By Lynne Judd Come join us at the next Magic Years Club meeting on Monday, March 9 at 7 pm in the HFC Craft Room. There are lots of great members of the Club who are willing to share experiences or answer any questions you might have about WDW, annual membership or Disney Vacation Club. In February we spoke about the (paid) experiences we had each participated in and whether the cost was worth it. Invariably, all the experiences were great! Interesting facts about the Peter Pan ride were shared and we also had our Disney trivia game - members are always welcome to bring questions. We watched, Raya and the Last Dragon in the Clubhouse Cinema on February 17. Hoping you can make it to the next meeting!
