ELECTRONIC STORAGE DEVICE COLLECTION Over the past two years, some of you may have seen Heidi & Sandy White around the neighborhood with various black and yellow Labradors. Some of you may remember them with their Great Pyrenees Leo. After Leo passed, they became volunteers with Dogs, Inc (dogsinc.org), an organization that breeds, raises, and trains guide, service, skilled companion, and therapy dogs. Heidi & Sandy currently volunteer as puppysitters for puppies in the program, but they began as puppy raisers of Jimbo from July 2023 to July 2024. Jimbo completed training to become a guide dog; however, due to his energy, he was transferred to Jordan Detection K9 in Indiana, where he was trained in Electronic Storage Detection (ESD). Jimbo was renamed Detective K9 Zero and paired with his handler Detective Bobby Barrett. You can follow Detective K9 Zero on Facebook. Zero can detect hidden devices like cell phones, hard drives, and USB drives even when concealed inside walls, in furniture, and underwater. ESD canines are trained to sniff out specific chemical compounds, i.e. triphenylphosphine oxide. They help law enforcement find critical evidence in crimes, including child exploitation, human trafficking, pornography, homicides, and money laundering. Their duties also include de-escalation, workplace therapy, facilitating victim disclosures, and emotional support for victims. For Detective K9 Zero and all ESD dogs, training is on-going. They only receive food when they successfully locate a device. To help with their perpetual training, we are collecting old cell phones, tablets, cameras, USB Drives, SD cards, and hard drives. They do not need to be in working order as the chemical compound is present in the components. If the device is still active, we urge you to erase its memory. Please drop your old electronic device in the box in the Clubhouse Ballroom Kitchen but do not include cords or chargers. Thank you! WWW.BROCKSWINDOWCLEANING.COM 17
