LA NINERS By Diane Struble Baby, it's hot outside! But the Niners are still having fun playing some alternative games several times per month. To try to beat the heat, remember to keep hydrated and visit the Eagle's Nest after your game. The Niners are always looking for new members. Join in for a round of golf! Shotgun start time is 9 am every Tuesday. Meet in the parking lot for announcements at 9:40. Check with the Pro Shop for fees. The fall fundraiser for senior orphans of Polk County will be the first week of November - more details to come next month. Contact VP Karen Ferrande at 207-451-0143 if you have any questions or would like to join the LA Niners. Finally, as a reminder to everyone, keeping up the pace of play makes golf more enjoyable for all our members. Here are four tips that will help speed up the pace of play without any negative effect on your game. • PLAY READY GOLF. • Always carry a spare ball in your pocket in case a provisional is necessary. • Line up your putt before it is your turn, so you are ready to putt. • Always record your score at the next tee. Never record your score at the green. 30
