GOLF UPD A TES FROM THE PRO SHOP By Ron LaVoie, General Manager Final Membership numbers for fiscal year 2020/2021 are 390 memberships which translate into 609 golfers. This is 125 more than prior year. We have 305 yearly members with 155 being couples and 150 are singles. There were 85 seasonal memberships, which is 22% of the total membership. The Associate membership brought in 104 memberships with 39 being couples and 65 singles. Our New Home Membership now stands at 56 with hopes of converting 25% into full members. Overall dues were up 1.5% over prior year, but when you factor in the Associate Green Fees the club is up 8.4%. All the lots are under contract, so we are hoping to add an additional 25 members in the next 12 months. Don’t forget about the 2% discount if you join before August 31st! As everyone knows the hot, humid, and wet season is upon us, so extra care must be taken while riding carts on the course. On days when it is cart path only all four wheels need to stay on the cart path at all times. You should not be passing anyone when you play. When it is not cart path only, please observe the 90-degree rule and pay special attention to our consistently wet areas this time of year. Pay more attention when playing 1, 2, & 9 (125 yards from green) 10, 11,15,16 and 18 fairways on the west and 1 thru 5, 6,7,12,14 & 17 by the green, and 15 on the East. Reminder that all par 3’s are cart path only all the time. Please pay attention to the morning emails or check with the shop signage before teeing off. Golf course maintenance will continue trying to maintain the course to the standards we currently have, however many areas become too wet to mow and they can become ugly to look at while drying out. Maintenance also is having its challenges trying to find people to work, so please understand when some areas are not immediately maintained. Eagle’s Nest is also having the same problem trying to find help as Vickie is down to 3 servers, which is why we have limited hours, and sometimes limited menu items. Make sure you call before coming over to ensure they are open, especially days when the course is closed because they will tend to close early on those days. The membership has done a good job of riding two to a cart, especially our leagues and groups. The golf shop staff thanks all of you who have helped make this happen. We cannot maintain great fairways with four carts in a group, so please partner-up when playing, or when riding individual carts, it is cart path only. Regarding Pro Shop emails, if you have checked all your folders and contacted the shop to ensure the correct email is on file, then the final move is to call Mary at the HFC. The Golf Committee members are Rolly Geyer, Mary Lopez, Vickie Andrew, and Bill Bothwell. If you would like anything discussed at one of the meetings, please reach out to one of them, or let Matt or myself know what your concerns might be. Those non-golfers who would like to receive notifications on course conditions and closures should add your name to the email list by contacting the Pro Shop at 863-326-1032. GOLF OPERATIONS SUMMER HOURS THROUGH SEPTEMBER 30 Golf Pro Shop: 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily Driving Range: 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily (Select Thursdays range will be closed until 8 a.m. for maintenance) 28
