LAKE ASHTON FRIENDS OF MEALS ON WHEELS By Marcia Santino As you probably know, each year our Club sponsors a month-long fundraiser drive with 100% of the proceeds going directly to MOWPolk. It will take place again this mid-October through mid-November with a “Grand Finale” dance on November 13 in the Clubhouse Ballroom (mark your calendar and save the date). Our Club also supports MOWPolk’s own themed fundraiser which takes place on the first Friday evening each October. It is a night out of the community complete with dinner, entertainment, raffle and silent auction. Please scan the QR code to learn more. If you decide to attend and would like to be seated at a Lake Ashton table, add a note to your reservation. A sincere thank you to everyone who supports this essential community resource. Your generosity is gratefully accepted and greatly appreciated! Without federal funding MOWPolk is always in need of volunteer assistance. Please consider volunteering in the kitchen, thrift store or as a meal delivery person. As little as three hours a month can make a difference in so many lives. Reminder: Next “Third Thursday Second Chance” donation date is July 16. LA CERAMIC CHICS By Shari Gleber Christmas in July has nothing on the LA Ceramic Chics! We plan for Christmas all year long, creating special pieces for display in our own homes, and to give as gifts. Ornaments, candy dishes, serving pieces, home decor and stunning light up ceramic Christmas trees are favorites. Recently a number of members have been making beautiful mugs for gifts. Paired with soup mixes or special hot chocolate recipes they make a wonderful, well-received holiday present or hostess gift. Ceramic bisque suppliers carry lots of beautiful and fun Christmas pieces all year long so finding that perfect project is easy. To join the LA Ceramic Chics, stop by any Wednesday at the HFC Craft Room, 8 am to 1 pm. No experience necessary! Everything needed to get started is available along with lots of guidance and friendly crafters willing to help. After you spend a class or two with us and determine you like ceramics, membership is $20 annually for kiln supplies and maintenance - no charge to members for firing of projects - NO LIMIT. Meet our friendly members and create something beautiful! Contact Joan DiBattista at 239-851-7899 or LACeramicChics@gmail.com.
